Do you like stranded knitting projects but you don’t like the colour choices in the pattern decided by the designer and would like to successfully choose your own colours? My Colour Blending workshop is an online Zoom, two hour fun, interactive, creative session to experiment with coloured yarn in order to gain the skills to successfully and confidently choose colours for your own future stranded knitting projects.
For the session, you will be asked to bring your stash yarn to your own table for the workshop (do not buy special yarn as we are looking at colour). You can look at your own stash of yarn and I will teach you how to get the best out of colours for your stranded colour work projects.

ONLINE COLOUR SWATCH JOURNAL GROUP – next cohort starting January 1st 2027 – April 30th 2027

Colour Swatch Journal Group
Four months of exploring colour, knitting and creativity with Tracey Doxey
I’m Tracey. I’ve been knitting for over 40 years and my practice sits at the intersection of knitting, colour and art. I have a degree in Fine Art – 1998 and a First Class Distinction Master’s degree in Knitting from Nottingham Trent University – 2018
The Colour Swatch Journal Group is my four-month online colour study for knitters who want to go beyond simply choosing colours they like — and learn to really see, understand and work with colour.
Who is it for?
For anyone who loves to knit and wants to develop their colour skills. You don’t need to be an expert knitter. You just need to be curious about colour and excited to experiment and make your own journey into a Colour Swatch Journal.
Think of it as a little bit like going to university — but with yarn.
What will you learn?
Together we’ll explore colour through swatching, observation and experimentation. You’ll learn to recognise and understand contrast, value, saturation, colour dominance and depth, explore colour relationships and learn how to blend colours with confidence.
We’ll also look at different approaches to Fair Isle, OXO and Shetland motifs, and how colour can completely transform a pattern.
What will you come away with?
Your own Colour Swatch Journal — a visual record of your four-month journey, filled with swatches, experiments, observations and discoveries.
But more importantly, you’ll develop a new way of seeing colour and the confidence to make your own colour choices when you knit.
Your four months include
- A monthly newsletter packed with teaching, examples and exercises between 15 – 28 pages long going out on 1st of every month.
- A live Zoom session with me on the last Sunday of each month – usually 5-6pm UK time
- A private Facebook group to share your swatches, ideas and discoveries- to support each other’s development and a save place to share (not mandatory)
- Your own Colour Swatch Journal, built throughout the four months
- An optional final Show & Tell, celebrating what you’ve discovered and created
You bring your yarn, your knitting and your curiosity. I’ll show you how to look at colour differently.
If you would like to register interest in my next Colour Swatch Journal Group, Starting on January 1st, or if you would like to ask any questions, please complete the Contact Us Form below. I will be getting back to all the people who have registered interest in the Colour Swatch Group, in October.
Tracey’s caring heart shines through her teaching in a way that can be transformative with regard to how you see and work with color. She lays the ground from which you can expand your own abilities to capture the colors of your own heart. I am so happy I took her workshop. I really can’t recommend Tracey highly enough, she is a dynamic and wonderful teacher.

Doing the colour blending workshop last Friday (22nd March) made so much sense of so many of the issues I was having around colour. Had enormous fun yesterday swatching. Thank you again Tracey for two hours of inspiring and practical advice.
